TDS Welcomes Mary Bailey
I am Mary Bailey. I am an Aggie, Class of ’78, with a degree in Computing Science. After my husband, Don (’78), finished his Master’s in 1980, home was wherever the Army sent him. The plan was to serve our country for 3 years or so, then pursue a civilian career. As it turns out, he retired from the Army on March 1st of this year after 26½ years on active duty. It was a grand and exciting adventure, but we are excited about living the next phase of our life in one place. I am originally from Longview, but we are busy making College Station our new “hometown.”
For a short time we are near our son, Daniel, again. He is the Class of ’07 and a former member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band (as is his father). No, we did not badger him into becoming an Aggie. It was his choice. He was so impressed by our campus visits and by the Aggie Spirit he saw wherever we happened to be, whether in Hawaii, Washington, D.C., or anywhere in between. Of course, I feel the same way. It is great to be back in Aggieland.
My work experience has included a variety of programming, help desk, and computer support jobs. I have worked for private firms, the federal government, and two different school districts. In all of these jobs, I found I really enjoyed being able to help the folks I worked with to better understand how to use computers and the technology that has now become a part of everyone’s workplace.
Since becoming a Trainer, I have been involved in training a variety of fields: computer software, personal skills (communication, leadership, etc.), as well as delivering Instructor Training. I have been training Microsoft Office and Windows since 1998 and have also trained other programs such as HTML and database reporting applications.
I am looking forward to meeting everyone in the Libraries. I am anxious to learn more about the programs you use and need so that I can serve you better.
