Astley Collections

A new general collection of voyages and travels; consisting of the most esteemed relations, which have been hitherto published in any language; comprehending everything remarkable in its kind, in Europe, Asia, Africa, and America. London : Printed for T. Astley, 1745-47.

This collection, known as the Astley collection for its publisher, was edited by Thomas Green, and originally appeared in weekly parts. It collects tales of various voyages to Africa, America, and Asia. This volume contains only the European and African voyages. The text is punctuated with a series of maps and illustrations from a variety of sources.
