The Cushing Memorial Library and Archives (with funding from the John H. Hinton Endowment) and the Melbern G. Glasscock Center for Humanities Research at Texas A&M University are sponsoring a new graduate research award. The award will support research projects in the humanities that are based in the collections of the Cushing Memorial Library and Archives. The award is open to graduate students at Texas A&M University. The committee will award funding for up to two projects in the amount of $1500 each, tenable from June 1st to August 31st of the year in which the award is made. The winner(s) of the award will be required to spend a minimum of one month in residence at the Cushing Library during the time period specified above. The winner(s) will also be asked to give a presentation on the results of his or her project and submit a brief written report. 

     Applicants should be graduate students in good standing at the time of the award. Applications should be no longer than two pages, single spaced, and should contain the following information: 
  • Applicant’s name, address, phone number and email address.
  • Applicant’s major degree and department. 
  • Applicant’s department head and committee chair.
  • A statement describing the nature of the applicant’s research and the materials in Cushing that will support that research.

Applications are due by 5:00 p.m., February 27, 2003 and will be announced no later than March 7, 2003.
